about

My father's side of the family is from Virginia. At least once a summer, we'd head to Norfolk to visit the grandparents, and spend a few days at Virginia Beach. We stopped going for a couple years shortly after my grandfather died. My folks now try to spend a week on the Outer Banks over the summer. Provided I'm not tied up with touring, I try to make it out.
The last summer we spent at Virginia was the summer of 2000, when I was 12 years old, in between sixth and seventh grades. I had just gotten Third Eye Blind's second album, "Blue," and was uncontrollably happy to have nothing to do but crash in the surf for days on end.
I've since gone back to Virginia Beach, and love it just as much now as when I was a kid. I still hear Kevin Cadogan's guitars on "Camouflage" when I smell the salt spray.
