about

The first tune is one that I learned from playing with my father at the National Cathedral on Sundays. Years after the service we led was terminated, I sat with some of the songs from the service that I missed playing. This tune came up, and I remembered liking the melody a lot. It's sonically equidistant from a lullaby, a hymn, and a country waltz. Right in the middle.
I wrote the second tune when I lived at 15th and Chapin, across from Malcom X Park, at the very top of Meridian Hill. The view from my window looked directly West, which allowed sunlight to pour through the glass at sunset. The apartment has since been gutted, and turned into luxury condos. The hill, the park, and the tune are still here, though.
